Paul became a Teamster in 1987. He worked nights and started coming to meetings during the day. Tom Tweet always joked that Paul was the first and only member to come to day Union meetings. Paul served as Shop Steward for 15 years and became Sgt. At Arms in 1998, then advancing to Trustee in 2000. In 2004 Paul became Recording Secretary. In 2008 he moved up to Vice President and Business Agent, then advancing to President in 2014.

Paul was a Technician for Village Chevrolet for 21 years and before that he worked in the trade for an independent shop for 9 years while working towards his college degree.

Kurt became a Teamster in 1991 while working for Brookdale Honda, Pontiac, GMC where he served as Union Steward for 15 years. Kurt was appointed to Trustee in January 2008 then advancing to Recording Secretary in May 2011. After serving 32 years in the automotive industry, Kurt left his Technician position and became Vice President and full-time Buisness Agent for Local 974 in January 2014 and is currently serving the members of Local 974.
